The Colorado Landscape
Looking Ahead
This group of paintings represents an unexpected shift in landscapes of Colorado—away from the mountains and toward the open land to the east.
At the edge of the Front Range, the terrain releases into the flattening of the Great Plains. Forms simplify, and distance takes over.
The horizon becomes less a boundary and more an invitation, suggesting space that continues beyond what can be seen. There is a dryness to the season that shapes the mood. Color is restrained, surfaces are quiet, and atmosphere becomes the subject. Light moves uninterrupted across long distances, softening edges and dissolving form. The mountains remain behind the viewer, absent but understood. Without them, the eye moves outward, following the land as it opens into something less defined.
A road appears at times—not as a destination, but as a direction. A sense of continuation. A long way ahead.
In this way, the paintings reflect not only a place, but a way of seeing—looking ahead with a sense of confidence into uncertainty and possibility, where the unknown destination begins to echo the creative act itself.

Catalina Conservancy Wild Side Collection
This series of paintings was created during and after an artist residency experience on Santa Catalina Island in conjunction with the Catalina Conservancy Annual Exhibition. 10 artists were selected to contribute works to their annual fundraiser. I was honored to be invited to participate in what was to be the last in a storied history of exhibitions.
