What Is The Schedule?
THURSDAY
6:00pm – Welcome dinner at the Bull & Bush (near Dan’s studio)
FRIDAY & SATURDAY
- We will meet at Dan’s studio at 8:00am to allow load up and travel time to the days locations
- Locations will be within an hour of the studio
- There will be 2 locations per day, a morning and an afternoon session
- Lunch break will be between the 2 sessions
- The day will end
SUNDAY
- We will plan to be back to the studio area earlier, wrapping around 5:00pm
What Was That About Lunch?
There is a Whole Foods across the street from Dan’s studio that opens at 7:00am. A cooler will be provided for purchased food & drinks. Some of the locations may have food close by.
Where Will We Be Painting?
The locations have been hand selected by Dan and include some of his most favorite spots. Some may (or may not) have shade or bathrooms on site. However a 10×10 canopy tent will be set up as a base at locations that allow and bathrooms will only be a short drive away.
*NOTE: we will NOT be painting downtown Denver.
Friday All Day Location- Cherryvale Trailhead (45 min drive)
At the top of the foothills, this higher elevation location with amazing vista views overlooking Denver, historic farm structures and views of the Rockies to the west and pure landscape scenes.
Saturday
Morning Location-Idaho Springs (45 min Drive)
Plenty of spots to buy lunch
Afternoon Location-Golden (30 min Drive from Golden, then 30 min on the way back to the studio)
At the top of the foothills, this higher elevation location with amazing vista views overlooking Denver, historic farm structures and views of the Rockies to the west and pure landscape scenes.
SUNDAY
Location- Castlewood Canyon State Park (45 min)
What is the Elevation?
Denver’s elevation is 5280 ft. It is VERY important to stay hydrated in this elevation/dry climate. Please plan on drinking more water than usual to help avoid altitude sickness. Also keep an eye on alcohol consumption, 1 drink can feel like 2 (or 3!)
When Should I Plan To Arrive/Depart?
- Plan to arrive in Denver early Friday afternoon. Give yourself enough time to get settled in and over to the welcome cocktail party dinner at 6:00pm
- Uber from the airport to Dan’s studio area is usually around $45
If I'm Flying In, Will I Need A Car?
- Dan drives a Toyota 4Runner and can transport 3 students to the painting locations
- If you are driving in or renting a car please be willing to help carpool
- Uber from the airport to Dan’s studio area is usually around 35 minutes & $45
